Sport is an important part of the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education program. All students take part in our school sports and P.E. programs. There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions.

Waverley students participate in specialised program run by professional organisations in Gymnastics, Swimming, Dance and also we invite the Roosters and AFL to give lessons to the students in OzTag and AFL Kick.

Students, eight years and above, are encouraged to participate in annual school carnivals for cross country, athletics and swimming.

Every child and staff member belongs to one of the three sport houses. The sport houses are as follows:










School Sport

Students are provided with sporting skills programs that lead to modified games each week. School sport caters for a wide range of abilities and interests. The focus is on participation, healthy living, skill development and fun.


PSSA (Primary School Sports Association)

Students who display sporting talent compete in the inter school weekly sports competition. Focus is in participation for enjoyment and developing a sense of fair play, as well as competition.

As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools coordinated by school sport associations the PSSA.  Children from Years 3-6 are selected for these school representative teams on their ability and skill. The weekly competition includes Terms 1 & 4 (Summer) Softball, Basketball & Oztag. Terms 2 & 3 (Winter) Netball and Soccer.
